New Rolling Stones video uses AI to make band members young again

NEW YORK — The Rolling Stones rolled back the clock in a new music video that makes the band appear to be in their 1970s heyday again.
The British group, which formed in 1962, seemingly used AI to produce their video for “In the Stars,” which dropped Thursday.
It features Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, both 82, and Ronnie Wood, 78, jamming at a house party. They’re surrounded by other musicians who are playing along as some partygoers dance to the iconic band’s new single off their upcoming album, “Foreign Tongues.”
“Marty Supreme” actor Odessa A’zion is one of the revelers in attendance at the digitally doctored Stones jam. She licks Jagger’s face as he sings, dances and moves like a young man.
“I’m obsessed with the Rolling Stones,” she said in a press release sent to media outlets. “This is in my bucket list for sure.”
Deep Voodoo — an artificial intelligence company started by “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone — reportedly utilized “groundbreaking deepfake technology” to bring the Stones’ latest project to life. Their new video credits actors who serve as body doubles for Jagger, Richards and Woods.
The band lost longtime drummer Charlie Watts in 2021 at age 80. An army of drummers fill in for the famed percussionist in the “In the Stars” video.
The Stones held a Q&A hosted by funnyman Conan O’Brien in Brooklyn on May 5 to promote their second recording of original new music since 2005. “Foreign Tongues” is due for release on July 10.
Former Beatle Paul McCartney is among the musicians who contributed to the album.
