Russell Brand and his wife Laura Gallacher pray every day before heading to court for his trial.

The 51-year-old TV star has pleaded not guilty to seven charges - three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault - relating to six women and alleged incidents between 1999 and 2009 and he's currently standing trial at Southwark Crown Court in London. He's been accompanied to court by his wife Laura, who has revealed the couple pray every day before "going in" and they have even been reading psalms in the car on the way to court.

During an episode of their YouTube show Sunday Service which was released on October 18, Brand, who denies the charges, started by acknowledging he would be unable to talk about the trial, saying: "We're of course in the middle of a very unusual time in our marriage and for legal reasons, which you'll be aware of if you follow what I would call old media, traditional media, at some points I would call it corrupt media, hypocritical media, deceptive media, empire media that's the term.

"If you follow empire media you'll be aware that of course we as a family and me in particular are in a situation that requires the authenticity and authority of true justice and for that reason we'll be extremely cautious if in any way we refer to the events in the trial so that truth and justice is served for everyone involved and everyone involved deserves it."

Brand went on to reveal his wife has looked "absolutely beautiful and spectacular" while she's been by his side at court, and Laura added: "That's so kind, You've look wonderful too."

However, the troubled star admitted some of his outfits haven't been popular and he's been told to stop wearing his shirts unbuttoned.

He said: "I got some criticism for not having [a shirt on] ... It's comments in the last few weeks but the worst of all the things I've had said to me or about me this week was: 'Do your shirt up'."

Laura went on to reveal her nerves about the trial, admitting she gets anxious when travelling to the London court, saying: "I already get nervous driving around the corner as soon as you see the name of the street ... On Battlebridge Road you don your armour. That's what I feel ...

"Obviously there's no other thing you could say to carry you through something like this ... When someone might be like: 'I don't even know what to say to say to you. You must be having a really [s***] time.'

"And I'm like, actually there's a lot of grace in this. There is a lot of grace and, would you say mercy? I don't know.

"But the feeling of the people we're surrounded by and the sort of feeling of being carried, it doesn't mean it's not difficult, it's doesn't mean there aren't moment terror, you know challenge."

She then revealed the couple have been praying and using their time in the car to spiritually prepare.

She said: "We obviously do pray before going in, [to court]. We read psalms on the way the other morning. Someone sent me a couple of psalms and ... Russell found them in the Bible.

"We read them out with the people we travel with in the car and it's like keeping you on track. You cold fall off track really easily ... We both do pretty well, we're pretty vigilant about not engaging in the media around it. It's too evil ... There's dark. It's darkness."

Brand said: "As much as I feel the weight of spiritual warfare, I feel the lightness and the angelic levity of grace everywhere.'

The former TV star was initially charged in April 2025 following a Metropolitan Police investigation that began after allegations were reported by the Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4's Dispatches in 2023.

The original case involved two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault relating to four women and alleged offences between 1999 and 2005.

Brand pleaded not guilty to those charges. Two further charges - one count of rape and one count of sexual assault - were authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service in December 2025 and relate to two additional women and alleged incidents in 2009.

Brand subsequently pleaded not guilty to those charges at Southwark Crown Court in February.

Responding to the original charges in 2025, he said online: I've never engaged in non-consensual activity. I pray that you can see that by looking in my eyes."
